Testosterone Injections Brand Names

Written by Author - Authors Medical experts of the National HRT Clinic - October 16, 2015

There are three major types of testosterone injections that most testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) clinics use with their patients. These are:

  1. Testosterone Cypionate (Brand name Depo-Testosterone)
  2. Testosterone Enanthate
  3. Testosterone Propionate

Each medication is a little different from the others, but all serve their purpose. They will be prescribed as a licensed doctor deems appropriate for his or her patient’s needs. Below are some interesting facts about the three types of testosterone injections:

  • Testosterone Cypionate or Depo-Testosterone is the most commonly prescribed medication due to its longer half life than the others and it has a slower release time with the longest active life. The cost of Depo-Testosterone can be approximately $60 per week.
  • Testosterone Enanthate is a second choice for low T patients, as it has a shorter half life and a shorter active life in the body. This medication is often less expensive than Testosterone Cypionate.
  • Testosterone Propionate is the least prescribed medication for low T due to its short active life. This medication has to be delivered into the blood stream much more often than the other two. The literature shares that this is the most painful intramuscular injection of the three, but it is used to get fast; almost instantaneous results. It does not last as long and needs to be administered often.

See how the three medications compare and contrast below in the comparison chart. You can always call your advisor for more detailed information as well.

Pros and Cons of Testosterone Injections

Most men want to know, is it safe to take testosterone injections to counteract the effects of Low T, and the answer is yes, so long as the treatment is prescribed and supervised a licensed doctor who is experienced in hormone replacement therapy.

Some of the pros of treatment for Low T include:

  • Treatment every one or two weeks – this reduces pain or discomfort to the injection site.
  • Testosterone injections for men are affordable.
  • Injections can be self-administered at home.
  • Dosages are easily adjustable, based on doctor recommendations.

There are some cons of receiving treatment to raise testosterone levels, including:

  • There may be some discomfort or pain at the injections site, but this will typically go away in a relatively short period of time.
  • An increase in red blood cell production, though beneficial, could go above the safe limits, increasing the risk of blood clots or heart attacks.
  • Unlike the natural secretion of testosterone, which occurs daily, the time span between injections can cause fluctuations in the level of this hormone in the body.

Proper communication with the medical center and careful monitoring of the results can lead to a safe course of treatment for Low T in men.

What Can I Expect from Testosterone Injections

The purpose of any type of hormone replacement therapy is to bring about a state of homeostasis – balance – in the body. Knowing what to expect from testosterone injections can increase awareness as the benefits begin to take effect.

Here are some of the primary results that will be achieved with treatment for Low T:

  • Increased energy, endurance, and exercise capacity
  • Enhanced sexual desire, performance, and pleasure
  • Decreased fat mass (weight loss) and increased lean muscle mass
  • Increased sperm count over time
  • Renewed focus, sharper memory, and better cognitive performance
  • Improved drive and productivity
  • Stronger bones and reduced joint pains and stiffness
  • Thicker, fuller hair, with possible regrowth in areas where it was previously lost

Thanks to the positive results of testosterone injections, the body will take on a more physically toned appearance. Men will find that their mood lightens, and sleep is deeper and more restful.

Are Testosterone Injections Steroids

Testosterone is a steroid hormone that is produced by the body naturally. Testosterone injections are man-made, bio-identical replicas of that which the body makes on its own. They are only legal when they are prescribed and medically supervised by a licensed doctor.

Often times, testosterone replacement therapy is confused with abusing steroids. It is not the same thing. TRT is medically prescribed and supervised therapy. Taking the testosterone steroid without a doctor’s prescription is illegal and unsafe. It is never recommended.

Testosterone Injections: Legal or Illegal

In the past, there has been controversy as to whether or not testosterone therapy is legal. This is, in part, due to the use of steroids by athletes and bodybuilders. Testosterone injections are considered illegal for those purposes.

That is not the same thing as a man who is diagnosed with Low T, and is looking for help to raise this hormone level in his body following blood testing. In this case, legal testosterone injections will be authorized for use by the prescribing physician.

The only safe and completely legitimate way of purchasing this medication is through a doctor and a licensed US pharmacy. At National HRT, our doctors specialize in hormone replacement therapy for men, as well as for women. We offer men throughout the US the best testosterone injections that they can administer with confidence to bring passion and vitality back into their lives.
